63 - 64 West Parade, Rhyl
This prestigious project was completed for Pennaf in November 2006.
It involved the demolition of two large 5 storey Edwardian houses and the construction of a basement car park and twenty self-contained flats.
The building had a steel frame at basement level supporting a traditional masonry construction, solid concrete floors and a trussed rafter roof with slate roof coverings.
The contract value was £1.4 million, and presented our company with many interesting challenges of construction involving:
- Ensuring the stability of the neighbouring buildings during the demolition process.
- Working in a very restricted site area.
- Transportation of materials to great heights. (6 stories including basement)
- Working to the highest specification of materials and workmanship.
- Designing the building to comply with the disproportionate collapse requirements of the Building Regulations.
- Complex mechanical and electrical service installations.
The building has been entered for a Local Authority Building Control Award which it won in March 2007.
